Club Communications

From Outside the Club

The main conduit for communications is the president; see the contacts page. Those from outside the community should start with an email or text. Visiting pilots or those looking to join are also advised to contact the president first to smooth the process and get introductory notes. Novice pilots may find the president can establish contact with mentors faster than a cold call or email that may be screened.

The president uses the club email hynerfreeflight@gmail.com which is also shared by the other officers.

Communications within the club

Online Forum: groups.google.com/group/hyner-club. This online forum allows threaded discussion best suited for detailed discussions such as club business and long range forecasts for flying. It can be set to send emails or just sit on the website waiting to be read. Go to hyner-club in the google groups and request to be added. Your reason for joining should include a short description of yourself such as flying experience and your location. If going through google groups fails, send an email to the president with the request and descriptive information.

WhatsApp: Hyner Free Flight is a chat group best suited for ephemeral topics such as on-the-day flying logistics and weather assessments. Road trip pilots should also use this chat for planning so that locals can offer advice and resources. You will first need to install the WhatsApp app on your phone (and perhaps link it to one installed on your computer). To join send an email to the president with your name, phone number and a description of your flying experience and location. If you know someone already on the group, they can add you as well.
